Mind your Mind
We're thrilled to be part of the Shore Dive records' Mind your Mind remix compilation. Shore Dive is a fantastic shoegaze label out of Brighton UK. The compilation was set up by our friends Tom Leonard (Manchester) and Shane Speed. I've become friends with Shane over bluesky, he's got an incredible story and doing some great things with his band Sea of Days. A while ago he mentioned that he was working on a compilation for the UK mental health charity: mind, and asked if we had a remix or an extra track that we could contribute.
We just happen to have a remix that Daniel Knowles who has played guitar with Amusement Parks on Fire and has an impressive record of mixing credits.
We had asked Daniel to do a remix of a song called December during one of the early lock downs of the COVID era. That was a time when I was struggling with my own mental health as a lot of us were. So it's kind of fitting that it found a home on this compilation. It's weird hearing this remix for me, because it sounds like us, but at the same time it doesn't sound like us at all. I guess that's kind of the fun with these things is how differently someone can imagine the same song.

It’s pretty common, in fact one in four folks will deal with a mental health issue each year. Sadly, many still feel ashamed or unsure of where to get help. Mind is here to offer information and support to anyone who needs it, they advocate for better services and work to reshape how we talk about mental health.
Even though mental health is getting more attention, it still has a stigma. It can be tough to talk about and figuring out how to get help when you need it can be a bit of a puzzle. Plus, it’s often hard to know where to go for help and how to get through the system, which can sometimes mean people don’t get the support they need.
Our whole band, Derek (who played drums on the recording) and Daniel were all totally in support of using this track for the compilation and support the cause we all know is so important.

I haven't heard the other songs yet, but it also includes two of bands I've been a fan of for ages: Andy and Gretchen's jangle pop duo: the blue herons and Pennsylvania's long running: highspire. Not to mention a Maps remix and lot of other bands I can't wait to check out!
