Mixcloud/Podcast Round Up

Streaming and algorithms are fine, but it's nice to have a human touch. The mixcloud sets are great because you can listen to them at your own pace and each episode has a unique style, flow and personality of the DJ.

Mixcloud/Podcast Round Up

I wanted to share some of the fantastic radio/DJ sets and a podcast that have included our first single.

Here are some of our favourites:

Melomania Safety Zone - DKFM

Melomania Safety Zone DKFM,

Do you remember the first time? Well this was ours, so to speak. Our world premier. A great show, featuring Toronto bands Twin Rains, and She Shone (a new band featuring Danella from An April March).

Like a Daydream - DJ Yogi Shoegazer

Yogi Shoegazer's Like a Daydream

DJ Yogi's sets are journeys that ebb and flow (often several hours long!). This one starts out with Slowdive, Hammock and Air Formation, it's so good! He posts his monthly live sets from Drummonds, Aberdeen. All of his sets are highly recommend!

Kris Gardner's - Your First Listen

Kris Gardner's first listen

Kris Garner's "Your First Listen" show is based out of Minnesota, but syndicated on so many places I can't keep track... This show has a bit of a dark wave/synthy-vibe. I'm sure there's a better way to describe that, but just listen to it, you'll get the idea. I really enjoyed the show and it's a great source for new music.

Magnetofunky: The Cost of Looking Away

Magnetofunky: WWT: The Cost of Looking Away
It’s one thing to not learn from history. It’s a whole other thing to just burn the damn history books... The Front Line - And then we were told to move on... Resistance Spotlight - Common Cause Center Stage - Another Shoegaze Set Lights Come Down - Azure Rose  Heaven - Phosphene Sacred Mirrors - Magic Wands Raindrops - Päfgens A Torinói Ló - kokomo Deep End - Humanity: Threat Assessment Unknown

Larry Winnfield's Magnetofunky Podcast

Now this one is not a Mixcloud, but I'm going to include it as well. Larry Winfield's Magnetofunky podcast blends politics, music, his personal observations and a little bit of profanity. I found his podcast's blend of music and politics to be unique and his commentary is on point, but pretty laid back in his delivery. This episode was a shoegazer themed episode with great new music. He also talks about what real reconciliation and growth mean: confronting our mistakes and failures front and centre. Let's read our history books, let's learn from them and not burn them. Great episode Larry!

Recurring themes

This has been a lot of fun listening to these compiling them and sharing them. I hope you enjoy these as much as I did. All of these creators have lots of other great mixes/podcasts and I'd encourage you to check some of their other sets/episodes.

I think this mixcloud/podcast roundup will become a recurring feature!
